Our Story
Shep's History
Back in the 1960s, Shep’s began as a convenience store and gas station. In 1984, Clyde and Mary Calkins purchased the property, adding a bar and a campground with 20 campsites, known as Clyde and Mary’s. About a decade later, following the closing of Uniroyal, Randy Shepler and his wife, Nancy, took on a new adventure by purchasing Clyde and Mary’s in 1995. They expanded the business—renaming it Shep’s Northshore—by remodeling the bar and growing the campground to 41 permanent campsites.
In 2022, Shep’s entered its next chapter when Darin & Shelly Voegeli and Brady & Angie Shepler took ownership. Over the past two years, they have introduced updates such as outdoor seating, with more improvements planned for the future. Today, customers still share fond memories of Nancy Shepler’s card and cribbage games, and we’re lucky to have Mary Calkins continue to stop by and visit. Shep’s remains a place where the past and future come together, and we look forward to making many more memories with you!
